Adam Trausch | Head Coach

Adam Trausch was hired in 2017 to restart the cross country programs, with the addition of track & field later in 2017. In 2022, Trausch added compliance duties in his role as co-compliance coordinator.

During his time at Lyon, all programs have grown and have seen success at the conference and national levels. In 2021, Trausch mentored NAIA Cross Country National Qualifier Clare Wilber, who ran a personal best at the national meet. In 2023, Kacie Teruya earned USCAA 2^nd^ team All-America honors at the National Championship. Both Kacie Teruya and Gavin Bush were named USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year in 2023. In 2023, the women’s cross country team was named SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team, while qualifying for the USCAA National Championships, finishing 6th. He has mentored two conference newcomers of the year,  and one conference field athlete of the meet. Trausch has coached four conference champions, 35 all-conference performances, and 15 athlete-of-the-week distinctions from conference/national affiliations. Academically, Trausch consistently has teams that are recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic teams and has coached one Academic All-American.

Trausch is a representative of the staff council and serves as the staff representative to the Board of Trustees.

Before Lyon, Trausch served as an assistant coach at Defiance College, UW-Oshkosh, and Wisconsin Lutheran College. He has coached the HCAC track athlete of the year and assisted the 2015 WIAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Eamon McKenna. That season the UW-Oshkosh women finished 15^th^ while the men finished 13^th^ nationally in DIII, with Jordan Carpenter earning the Elite 90 award, given to the highest GPA.

Trausch attended Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. He graduated in 2011 with a degree in business administration with a concentration in health service administration and earned a Master’s of Arts in High Performance Instruction from Wisconsin Lutheran College. He was a member of both the cross country and track and field teams at Davenport. Trausch was the first athlete in program history and was a four-time WHAC all-conference performer. In addition, he was a Daktronics Scholar-Athlete all four years of his career. 

Trausch earned his USATF Level 1 Certification in 2012 and is a member of the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association. He achieved the Eagle Scout Rank for the Boy Scouts of America in 2006. He resides in Batesville, Arkansas.
